Dr. Benjamin Snider

Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and

Functional Medicine Practitioner

About Dr. Ben

As a naturopathic doctor, Dr. Snider has a strong passion for a new and evolving field called personalized medicine. Personalized medicine is a field that takes into account the whole person – including health measurements from genetic testing and functional lab diagnostics, as well as a thorough health history and physical exam.  From this information a truly personalized protocol is developed which addresses the cause of the condition, not only the symptom.

The world of medicine is transforming and we are entering a new frontier where it is now possible to search within your DNA to determine what exercise is most beneficial for your muscle type, what foods are most healing for you, and what form of vitamin is best.

With this new information healthcare providers have discovered the power of genetic testing as a diagnostic tool, one that can illuminate a previously unknown factor involved in a disease.  With this information Dr. Snider’s advice can extend beyond the blanket statement like “eat more vegetables” and be tailored to the specific needs of each individual. One person may be told that she needs more raw leafy green vegetables due to the MTHFR variation and another person may be told to eat more broccoli in order to up regulate a detox enzyme called GSTM1 for improved liver function and hormone balance.

Dr. Ben runs an eclectic family practice that utilizes IV vitamin therapy, diet therapy, food sensitivity testing, lifestyle counseling, applied kinesiology, vitamins and minerals, detoxification, bioregulatory medicine, meditation, and different forms of body work to help bring the body back into balance. He sees a wide range of health concerns but specializes in chronic pain, chronic infections, skin conditions, allergies, cancer, anxiety/depression, digestive imbalances, hormone health, and chronic fatigue.

He addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach by engaging the patient in a therapeutic partnership. By shifting the traditional disease-centered focus of medical practice to a more patient-centered approach, Dr. Ben addresses the whole person, not just an isolated set of symptoms.

Dr. Ben spends time with his patients, listening to their histories and looking at the interactions among genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors that can influence long-term health and chronic disease. In this way, he supports the unique expression of health and vitality for each individual.

The mission of the therapeutic relationship is to create self reliant practices with each patient so they can stand fully empowered in their own healing potential. From this the patient can see the purpose behind the health concern and escape the confinement of feeling victim to their illness and understand that they have the power to create the changes they desire.

Dr. Snider has been featured on the television show Cosmetic Innovations, in Weight Watchers magazine, and is a frequent contributor to everydayhealth.com, an online health and wellness magazine.
